Hello, and welcome to Harley's Christmas Tree Farm Adventure! There were a few ideas behind this project. I choose to base this project around the holiday season. Christmas is my favorite time of year!! Part of this season however, is shared with the stress of finals, so I wanted to theme my project with happiness and joy to keep my sprits light. I also wanted to dedicate one of my projects this semester to my oldest dog Harley. Harley has been in my life for a decade, she has been there for me through a lot of major life journeys. She is very special to me and she never fails to brighten my day! Harley emotes much like a human, so I made sure to recreate (by hand tracing photographs with a line-work techiniques) of her that showcase her different moods and personality. This project has many points of interesting interconnectivity throughout. There are hoverable elements and hidden clicks too, but I won't spoil the surprise too much! These elements help to keep the reader engaged as they navigate through the different endings of the adventure. My hopes with this adventure story are that the reader feels the holiday season warmth and cheer and enjoys the little adventure story throughout.
There were some challenges I was presented with during this project. I first attempted to use CSS flex box to position my div elements, however trying to use the transform translate CSS properties to animate the image divs clashed with the flex box properties. Aligning the trees on the index page presented its own set of problems when switching between different display sizes. I spent an embarrassing amount of time on lack of navigation between pages when the buttons were clicked. I ended up using z-index to bring them in front of all other divs which was the solution in my case. I will continue to work with this adventure story in the future to tweak things I was not satisfied with and explore other options for relative placement.
